WELCOME TO THE MUJERISTA

We are a new media platform and community breaking down the stereotypes and misconceptions of millennial women with Hispanic and Latin American heritage.

From inception, our mission is to support the next generation of Latinas by celebrating our widespread talents, aspirations, achievements, and courage. As Latinas, it is not lost on us that we are an underserved group–we face many disadvantages and disparities not only outside our community, but within it as well.

The Mujerista brings about important conversations and content showing our diversity, our beauty, our intelligence, struggles and triumphs. It is an open space for us to share our views, knowledge, experiences and unify our community in a time where others are creating false narratives on who we are.

Through various forms of storytelling we are cultivating a collection of honest conversations, written personal stories and thought pieces that impact us while creating awareness.

Our posts cover topics surrounding financial responsibility, career advice, beauty and wellness, social and political awareness with the aim of spearheading a new trajectory of impactful discussions and stories.

Our promise is to deliver resources and inform on those who are redefining what being a Latina woman means through various online and offline experiences.

As we elevate the conversations surrounding Latinas, The Mujerista is also dedicated to fostering relationships and providing support for all women. That is why we have also created a safe and empowered space for millennial women to cultivate new connections, own and share their stories, while proudly representing themselves within the community–both online and in person–with our new creative working and community space,
The M Space.

Hola!

I created The Mujerista because I was looking for something like it; when I realized there was not much out there, I decided to create it myself. I felt I could not be the only one looking for a space that empowers and tells the stories of Latinas that is not fashion or gossip entertainment related. So, I built it. I reached out to peers to discuss the idea, and their reactions and excitement over The Mujerista made it that much more necessary that I act.

The Mujerista's purpose stemmed from the necessity to tell the stories of all who identify as Hispanic or Latina–especially after the hateful, racist, sexist, and discriminatory rhetoric regarding minority groups during the 2016 presidential campaigns. Coupled with personal experiences I encountered of sexism at the workplace and machismo in the Latinx community, it made the path to create The Mujerista clearer and crucial.

And as a Latina, I know how underserved we are! We face many disadvantages and disparities not only outside our community but within it as well. Our perspectives and voices are often ignored, underrepresented, undermined, stereotyped. With The Mujerista, we can finally tell our stories.
